Tessera Loupe · for Chrome
Any object on any web page, catalogued in seconds
Loupe sits beside the page you are reading. Select an object on an auction site, a dealer's shop or an online catalogue, and Tessera tells you what it probably is, what it may be worth and what to ask before you buy. One click and it is in your cabinet.
Loupe comes with early access. Two free scans before you create an account.
A drawing, with an example lot. Want to see the real thing? Try your 2 free scans on your phone, on any object you have at hand. No account needed.
How it works
Three steps, without leaving the page
Select
Open Loupe from the browser toolbar and draw a box around the object: a lot photo, a picture in a dealer's shop, an image in an online museum catalogue.
Read the first opinion
What it probably is, its date and origin, an indicative value, the marks and flags Tessera noticed, and which extra views would settle it.
Keep it
The object is saved in your cabinet with the picture, the page it came from and the appraisal. Add more views from the same page whenever you like.
Who uses it
Built for people who find objects online
- Buyers at online auctionsA second look at a lot before you bid, in the minute you have. Decide your maximum calmly and record what you paid if you win.
- Dealers sourcing stockCheck lots across auction houses and keep the promising ones as objects you are considering, each with its source page.
- Collectors researchingCompare what you own with what is offered and sold elsewhere, and keep the useful finds next to your own objects.
- Museums and researchersCapture reference objects from online catalogues and sale records into one place, with where each one came from.
Good to know
What Loupe sees, and what it does not
Loupe works from the pictures on the page, and those are chosen by the seller. It tells you what it saw and what to ask for: the back, the base, a mark in close-up. A value from Loupe is indicative, a starting point for your own judgement.
Loupe sends nothing to Tessera until you ask it to scan. Then it sends the part of the page you selected, with the page's title and address; nothing else from your browser.
